The company Z-LASER was founded by the economic engineer K.-M. Zimmermann in the German town Freiburg im Breisgau in 1985. The enterprise manufactures laser projection systems, which can be used as positioning aids for many types of applications in all kind of industries. The laser lines, -points or -crosses function as markings with which you can exactly align and position the workpiece which is to be processed. In 1986 the first large order for helium-neon-lasers of a Swiss customer was successfully concluded. This gave the green light for the success of Z-LASER company, which has more than 70 employees today.
In addition to the line lasers also complex laser projection systems have been developed, which can project complete contours of workpieces or entire component drawings in full size onto the work table. Already in 1989, on the wood fair LIGNA, Z-LASER presented the first laser projection system in the world for pod and workpiece positioning on CNC machines, following an intensive cooperation with several manufacturers and institutes. However, the CNC market was not the only target: these systems could also be used for applications in the textile and leather industry, in wooden frame manufacturing and the truss industry, as well as in various other manual or semi-automatic manufacturing processes. Since that time, research and development has always been an important company task.
In the 1990s the first diode lasers were introduced, which had their breakthrough as market leader with the cooled line laser model ZP "The Champion". The product range has been extended systematically since then to offer application possibilities also for other industries, e.g. VISION (measuring- and controlling technology) or medicine. The close contact to our customers and potential users has always been very important for us. That is why we love the challenge of creating special customised solutions.
Not only technology but also a well-functioning sales- and service network is important for us: after having established this network by sales activities at home and abroad via manufacturers and dealers, the intensive establishing process of an international sales representatives network began already in 1990. Today Z-LASER has sales representatives in more than 40 different countries worldwide, which also present our products on international exhibitions.
Z-LASER has an ISO 9001 certificate since 1994 ISO 9001 and fulfils, in addition to that, the regular quality audits by important industrial purchasers. To guarantee the high-quality standards of “Made in Germany” each laser is checked in several strict controlling processes. It is therefore not astonishing that Z-LASER has succeeded and become industrial standard. Our numerous investments in improving processing and company structures found their first peek now in our moving to a new large company building. There you find the production unit of all laser projectors, the research and development department, administration, marketing and sales department under the same roof.
