Service line lasers

Most of the problems that occur when using lasers are simple to solve. Look for the description of your fault in the table below and carry out the measures listed there. If the system still does not operate correctly after carrying out these standard checks, please contact Z-LASER or your local distributor.

Out of focus

Possible cause:
Optic window dirty
Action:
The optic window has a special anti-reflective coating; clean the optic window carefully with a cotton bud and methylated spirit. Do NOT use any aggressive cleaning agent.

No laser beam visible

Possible cause:

  • No power supply
  • Unstable power supply or External fuse defective
  • Plug not connected to supply or connections loose
  • Incorrect positioning of beam
  • Power supply overload protection has tripped out

Action:
1. Check whether the green control light is on. If not, replace the external fuse:

  • Z...PT Family => bis 20mW => 500mAT 
  • Z...RG Family => > 20mW => 1AT

PLEASE NOTE:
we recommend the use of a magnetic voltage stabilizer (MSK).

2. Check if the laser is receiving current. Attention ! Z...A Family: remove switch, clean it and attach it correctly.
3. Check the positioning of the laser beam.
4. Check connections to supply.
5. Switch off power supply and allow to cool off .

Laser is noisy in operation / laser light "flickers

Possible cause:
Unstable or defective power supply
Action:

  • Check the power supply. Please take all measures necessary to ensure a stable power supply.
  • If there is no improvement, please send the unit back to us.

PLEASE NOTE:
we recommend the use of a magnetic voltage stabilizer (MSK).

Projected line not straight

Possible cause:

   • for He-Ne lasers: optic badly adjusted 
   • for semiconductor lasers: diode defective 

Action:
notify Z-LASER. Discuss the problem with our Technical Service. For semiconductor lasers: return the unit to us.

Z...PT Family, laser line split

Possible cause:
Diode defective, caused by unstable power supply
Action:
Check the power supply. Please take all measures necessary to ensure a stable power supply. Send the unit back to us.

PLEASE NOTE:
we recommend the use of a magnetic voltage stabilizer (MSK).

Z...PT family: laser switches off and, after a short pause, on again

Possible cause:
the ambient temperature is too high, the integrated cooling system switches off automatically above 40°C

Action:
protect the laser from other heat sources and direct sunlight.

Laser line becomes weaker or loses focus

Possible cause:
optic dirty laser defective

Action:
The optic window has a special anti-reflective coating; clean the optic window carefully with a cotton bud and methylated spirit. Do NOT use any aggressive cleaning agent. If there is no improvement, please send the unit back to us.

Service laser projectors

In case any problems occur please contact us directly (see direct phone numbers below) since our laser projectors are very complex systems that are used in a wide variety of applications. A general troubleshooting online is therefore not possible.
