Wind mill rotors
The laser projector provides an accurate projection of the contour inside the mould, guiding the worker to assemble the components of the blade much more quickly. Cutting production costs by innovative laser applications is a proven fact. The Laser projector guides the worker through the manual lay-up process and increases the productivity by 30%. Furthermore the working process is not only optimised but also controlled and logged. Software interfaces to common 3D-CAD software and databases are available. In Addition the new technology has a positive impact on the quality of the products too. Using the laser projector helps to manufacture the parts in exactly the same way and avoids scrap.

Positioning of plies, prepregs and decals:
Our 2D and 3D laser projectors have been optimized for complex positioning alignment applications. They accurately project the outline of each ply or decal to be laid up onto the mould so that it becomes fast and very easy to position and align the plies precisely. The projector provides interfaces for all common 3D-CAD design programs to display contours on any curved surfaces. It combines the advantages of contour templating and computer control to automate the manufacture of complex composite parts that conventionally require extensive hand layup.
When the complete laser projection is shown, the layup technician can immediately determine where to place plies or prepregs, or working pieces like balsa core, stiffeners or vacuum pods. This not only increases throughput but also improves quality by reducing errors and manual rework.
Additionally, single letters, text strings or numbers can be projected to define a special projection pattern more precisely. Depending on the production process, either the whole contour of composite work pieces or the position of single elements like prepregs or decals can be displayed.

Aerospace
Within the field of the airplane manufacturing even more and more components are
manufactured of composite materials in the future. So the laser projector made his way from classic positioning applications for assembly purposes, and it will continue to set stronger aspects in the support of the manual putting process of fiber mats. Laser projectors are used in the Aerospace range for:

  • Put the fiber mats with composite materials
  • Position from cable runs (brackets)
  • Set from inlets on walls, ground and interior lining elements
  • Positioning for paintwork

 
 

Boat building
The dry fibre mats are cut to the desired form and size and placed according to a defined lay-up plan e.g. on the boat's deck. This often requires that mats of different fiber direction charasteristics have to be placed very exactly conjoined or overlapping. The exact position and sequence for placing the individual layers is projected by one or several laser projectors.
